'meals on heels' - new campaign launched to increase the number of breastfeeding mums across Leicestershire

25 June 2013
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust is celebrating national Breastfeeding Week (23 – 27 June 2013) by launching ‘meals on heels’, a unique celebration to inspire more mums to breastfeed. The ‘meals on heels’ campaign aims to empower women about their infant feeding choices, celebrating mothers all over Leicestershire. The fun and edgy publicity campaign, lead by LPT, has been designed in association with young breastfeeding mums, peer-support mums and Leicester County Council to encourage mums-to-be and new mums to breastfeed. Mental health patients asked for their views

People who use inpatient mental health services in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland are being asked to share their views as part of the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) national patient survey programme.

Staff in all mental health and community wards run by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) are being trained to “think carer” as part of the care they provide for inpatients. This week – National Carers Week – LPT is announcing  plans to roll out the Triangle of Care – a programme of carer involvement – to all inpatient areas by the end of 2014.

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust's nationally renowned Adult Eating Disorders Service has moved to £1.2m newly refurbished facilities, and will be celebrating the move with a special launch event on 13 June with two Principal dancers from The Royal Ballet.

Deputy Trust Chair set to retire

The deputy chair of Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) is set to retire after six years at the Trust. Nigel Sudborough CB OBE, of Uppingham, is a former Air Vice-Marshal and is a member of the Leicester City Magistrates Bench and joined LPT when it was predominantly a mental health trust.

More than 4,400 Leicester people pledge to stop secondhand smoke ahead of national TV campaign

The national Smokefree Homes and Cars campaign launches today (Tuesday 4 June), raising awareness of the dangers from smoking in the home and car – something around 4,400 Leicester city residents have already pledged to do.

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) is paying tribute in the coming week to hundreds of volunteers who support its work in hospitals, schools, health centres and people’s homes.The week of 1 – 7 June is Volunteers’ Week and LPT, which provides mental health, learning disability and community health services across Leicestershire, Rutland and Leicester, is urging staff to say ‘thank you’ with an award nomination.

The new service, funded by Leicester City Council, called Leicester Recovery Partnership is set to get underway on 1 July 2013 in partnership with Phoenix Futures and Reaching People.
