Harnessing art to boost mental health of young offenders

A partnership between the NHS, prison service and Leicester artists is using creative arts to boost the mental wellbeing of young men at Glen Parva Young Offenders Institute. LPT, Glen Parva and Soft Touch Arts have joined forces to launch the innovative year-long programme of creative arts workshops, with backing from the Big Lottery Fund.

The Agnes Unit, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s specialist inpatient unit for people with learning disabilities, has had its third successive quality stamp of approval from the Royal College of Psychiatrists. The unit, on Anstey Lane in Leicestershire, has been re-accredited by the College for a further two years.

Eating Disorder Ward rated excellent for patient care

An NHS inpatient unit based in Leicester, which provides specialist care and support for patients with eating disorders has been rated as providing excellent patient care. Langley Ward, situated within the Bennion Centre, on the Glenfield Hospital site provides hospital care and treatment to adults aged 18 or over who have anorexia nervosa.
