Psychological Therapies - service moves

25 March 2013
There are some service moves taking place within adult mental health in Leicester. Several of Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s specialist Psychological Therapies services are moving from the Towers Hospital site (Gipsy Lane) and integrating together at a new base at Gwendolen House, a building on the Leicester General Hospital site which is separate from the main hospital. 

Launch of Leics guide to medicines and mental health conditions

An online guide to mental health conditions and medicines entitled ‘Choice and Medication’ has been put together by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) which is available for service users, staff and carers through LPT’s website.  

Watermead mental health ward officially opened

Watermead – the Trust’s new £5.2m mental health ward at the Bradgate Unit – has been officially opened. 

Temporary arrangements for minor injury care

20 March 2013
Arrangements for minor injury services in Lutterworth are to change temporarily to ensure services remain safe and effective for patients. From Tuesday 2 April 2013 the minor injury service currently provided at Feilding Palmer Hospital will temporarily be unavailable and patients will be signposted to alternative service for treatment of minor injuries instead.

LPT celebrates National Apprenticeship Week 11-15 March

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust will be showcasing the achievements, skills and contributions of young and fresh talent in the organisation next week as part of National Apprenticeship Week.LPT, which provides mental health, learning disability and community health services in Leicestershire and Rutland, has 40 apprentices working in services ranging from HR and finance to health visiting, dietetics, occupational therapy and mental health services.

Lets celebrate Leicestershire mothers

Mums can now receive extra online support following a new initiative from Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) - just in time to support mum on Mothers Day. The Trust has launched new online information and resources to support mothers with infant feeding: irrespective of whether they choose to breastfeed or bottle feed,we want to highlight that there is support available for all mothers.

Funded and supported by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, this Leicester-based Community Projects Plus is aiming to improve amateur footballers’ awareness of health issues, specifically focusing on Chlamydia screening, alcohol awareness and stopping smoking, through the MatchFit Health project. 
If your team or sports club is interested in taking part in the screening programme please contact hello@communityprojectsplus.org If you are aged between 16 and 24-years-old and would like to receive a free Chlamydia test then text ‘MatchFit’ and include your name, address and date of birth to 88020.

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, which provides mental health, learning disability and community health services in Leicestershire and Rutland, has held its first commissioning service for volunteer chaplains in Ashby.

Appeal for memories to mark Towers closure

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust is asking people to share memories of Leicester’s historic Towers Hospital as it plans to mark its final move off the site. LPT is using funds from the sale of the site to create modern mental health services as part of the creation of a Centre of Excellence on the Glenfield Hospital site. More

Eating Disorders affect Leicestershire adults too

February 11- 17 marks Eating Disorders Awareness Week, which aims to encourage people to talk about this serious mental illness and to advise sufferers as to how they can access help. Our Adult Eating Disorders services cares for over 400 people a year across East Midlands. 

Leicestershire flu fighters in line for national award

Headlice advice for National Bug Busting Day
