Get into Health Services Prince's Trust scheme in place at LPT

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) signed up to the Get into Health Services’ scheme through the Prince’s Trust earlier this year. ‘Get Into’ is a short course that develops young people’s skills in a specific sector.

Once again national No Smoking Day is here (Wednesday 12 March 2014) but this year, the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Stop Smoking Service is undertaking a national first.We are the first stop smoking service in the country to officially announce that we are 'e-cig friendly'.

National Apprenticeship Week celebrated in LPT

Renowned doctor to open building named in his honour

3 March 
A renowned local Psychiatrist will officially open a building named in his honour on Wednesday 5 March 2014.
Dr Peter Neville will unveil a plaque to commemorate his contribution to specialist mental health services for older people at the new Neville Centre on the Leicester General Hospital Site. 

LPT helps shape communication standards for Winterbourne action plan

A speech and language therapy specialist from LPT is part of a team from the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists who have shaped new communications standards for health and residential care staff working with people who have learning disabilities. The new standards have been adopted as part of the government's Winterbourne action plan.

24 February – 2 March marks Eating Disorders Awareness Week, a national week that aims to encourage people to talk about this serious mental illness and to advise sufferers as to how they can access help.

NHS Trust’s call for closer engagement with local community

The Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust believes that hearing a strong local voice from service users, carers and members of the public is important and is inviting people from the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland community to join their Patient and Carer Reference Group to help support the Trust and give feedback on the range and quality of their services.

A joint collaboration between Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, University Hospitals of Leicester, Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Groups, East Midlands Ambulance Services and Leicestershire Police is gathering pace through a multi-agency steering group established to examine ways to improve and strengthen the health system response in relation to hate crime.

Young carers ID launched in a joint venture

A new ID card scheme for young carers is launched in February that will identify young people as carers and inform medical professionals that the person they care for has given consent for them to discuss issues including their condition, medication and prognosis.
 
 
Have your say on future of Ashby community health services

Local people are being invited to have their say on proposals that will make Ashby community health services fit for the future. 
A public consultation launched on Thursday 6 February 2014 for nine weeks asking people to give their feedback on two options on the future of services available from Ashby and District Hospital.

The awards recognise and celebrate the deivery of outstanding patient experience by those involved in the healthcare industry who are bucking the trend and leading the way for future success in their field.

Trust honours voluntary services drivers at special event

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) hosted an event to celebrate the achievements of their voluntary drivers and mark their long service. Trust Chairman Professor David Chiddick and Chief Executive Dr Peter Miller met the drivers and personally thanked them for their valuable contribution in supporting NHS patients.

Over 28,000 local children have benefited from national nasal flu pilot

30 January
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust has completed a 14 week national pilot programme to deliver the nasal flu vaccine to primary school children for Public Health England. The flu team of nurses has visited 213 primary, independent and faith schools across Leicester City, East Leicester and Rutland.

LPT in Ethiopia for mental health ward landmark

21 January 2014
Staff from Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust travelled to Ethiopia before Christmas, to help open the first mental health ward in one of the country’s rural regions. The new eight-bedroomed psychiatric ward opened at Gondar Hospital, built and equipped with professional and fundraising support from LPT volunteers, is expected to admit its first patients by the end of March.
