Trust agrees to set up research body for older people's health

27 March 2015
Members of the Trust’s board agreed this week to join De Montfort University, University Hospitals of Leicester and the charity Age UK in setting up a Leicester Institute of Health for Older People, looking at new ways to deal with the health and welllbeing needs of older people.

Jobs for nurses - recruitment open day in Leicester

£18,000 arts grant for 'healthy living' mental health work

Mental health service users from Leicestershire and Rutland are launching a six-month creative campaign to promote healthy living, thanks to an £18,000 grant. Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s award-winning Showcase Smoothie arts in health programme has been awarded the funding from the East Midlands Strategic Clinical Network.
 

Leicestershire Recovery college summer prospectus 

26 March 2015
Leicestershire Recovery College has published its 7th prospectus for the Summer term 2015, offering 34 free recovery focused courses. Since launching in May 2013, it has supported nearly 750 people in their recovery journey. Up to seven students enrol each week at the college’s Glenfield Hospital base, where the free courses, workshops and seminars are available for people using adult mental health services, and for their friends and loved ones.
 

Triage car scheme to be showcased at national event

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s (LPT) ground-breaking mental health triage car service will be showcased at a national ‘best practice’ in crisis care event in Leicester on 30 March. The event is being organised by Positive Practice in Mental Health Collaborative, and hosted by the Trust.

Second Year for Family Health Week

Award for Childhood Flu Immunisation Team

The Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s Childhood Flu Immunisation Team has won the Recognising Innovation Award for their innovative use of technology in delivering a flu vaccination to a staggering 58,055 local children in 435 schools. 

£1m nursing technology fund awarded to help support care

11 March 2015
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) has won a £1m share of NHS England’s £35m Nursing Technology Fund. The successful submission will enable LPT to provide mobile devices to all community hospital nursing staff, therapists and advanced nurse practitioners to assist them in improving record keeping of patient information on the wards.

CAMHS Inpatient Service Relocation

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust is today pleased to announce that the relocation of the Inpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) from Oakham House will take place on 24 March to Coalville Hospital, Ward 3. An open day for stakeholders to view the facilities and talk to staff will take place on 20 March.

Three Leicestershire Health Visitors Awarded National Fellows

Chris Davies, Asha Day, and Nicy Turner from Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust were among 150 outstanding health visitors who convened at a conferment ceremony in London yesterday to receive their Fellowship of the Institute of Health Visiting (FiHV).

Events to outline plans for health care in Ashby

Residents of Ashby are invited to attend two drop-in events in March to give them an opportunity to meet commissioners and providers of health and social care. The events will be providing an insight into what local health services are available and how some of these will look in the future.

A mental health 'summit' this Friday (6 March) will bring together health organisations, police, social care, third sector organisations and patient and carer representatives from across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

The ChatHealth school nursing team won an award for Digital Patient and Clinician Engagement, and Use of Technology Challenge and the Open Mind Partnership team from Adult Mental Health services won an award in the Rehabilitation Challenge.

Ashby community health services - proposals outlined

Subject to final agreement with North West Leicestershire District Council, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) is proposing to transfer LPT commissioned outpatient and clinical services, currently provided at Ashby and District Hospital, to the Hood Park Leisure Centre in Ashby. School nurses will transfer to Ibstock Community College and other local solutions are being investigated to accommodate office facilities.

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) and Richmond Fellowship are pleased to announce new services for people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland who are experiencing a mental health crisis.A telephone helpline, 0808 800 3302, offers support with urgent mental health needs. It is free from most mobile networks and is open between 2pm and 1.30am, seven days a week.

St Lukes temporary ward closure

Over 58,000 local children vaccinated against flu

28 January 2015
The childhood flu immunisations team from Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust have vaccinated 58,055 children aged 5-12 with a nasal flu spray, as part of the second year of a national NHS England pilot programme. The team visited 435 schools and units across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland over a ten-week period between October to December 2014.

Local FLiC girl becomes kick-boxing champion

Tamzyn (aged 10), from Market Harborough has transformed her health - becoming a national kick-boxing champion, and qualifying to compete in the World Kickboxing Championship Trials - since joining the FLiC (Family Lifestyle Club) weight management programme run by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT).
