Service move to building named in honour of one of the city's top medics

Patients are set to benefit as a building named after one of the city’s renowned Consultant Psychiatrists opens its doors next week. On Monday 2 December the new Neville Centre on the Leicester General Hospital site will open, providing the new home for some of mental health services for older people. The services for older people were previously located in the Brandon Unit and the Evington Centre, also on the Leicester General Hospital site.

Leicestershire NHS manager named Healthcare Communicator of the Year 2013

Kamy Basra from Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust won Communicator of the Year for her work including increasing the number of mums taking up breastfeeding in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland at this year’s Association of Healthcare Communicators Awards which were held in London last night (27.11.13).

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT), which provides mental health, learning disability and community health services across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, has issued a call to the carers of the people in its care. The Trust is marking National Carers Rights Day on Friday 29 November with an appeal for carers to feedback on their experiences.

Mindfulness programme available to people with long term physical health problems

A new mindfulness meditation programme is available from January to support people living in Leicestershire and Rutland who have a long term physical health condition or cancer. The programme aims to help people improve their general wellbeing and better manage any anxiety, fatigue, mood disturbance or stress they may be experiencing as a result of their health problems. 

'Good Prognosis' Event celebrating arts and culture in health

A celebration event hosted by LPT to mark the impact of arts and culture on health and wellbeing is being held on Wednesday 20th November at the Peepul Centre in Leicester.This special event, called ‘Good Prognosis’ will bring together experts from the health sector and the arts - along with the general public to celebrate the great work that already exists in this area.  

New head of equality and human rights for LPT

LPT has appointed a new head of equality and human rights. She is Sandy Zavery an experienced equalities specialist who re-joined LPT after three years as head of equality services for Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. 

Lead chaplain's palliative care Masters ‘first’

The Rev. Kate McClelland, head of spiritual and pastoral care for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) has become the first person to gain an MSc palliative care from De Montfort University (DMU). The programme is delivered jointly by DMU and LOROS, hospice care for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Aggers backs Balls to Stop smoking campaign

Leicester Riders to receive specialist stop smoking advice

Reigning British Basketball League Champions, the Leicester Riders, will be enhancing the work they do within the Leicestershire community, by receiving training from the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust Stop Smoking Service on Monday 21st October. The Leicester Riders will be attending a special smoking awareness session at Loughborough University, delivered by representatives of the Stop Smoking Service. 

Free DVD teaches people with learning disabilities about bowel cancer screening

A Leicestershire-produced DVD to help people with learning disabilities make informed choices about bowel cancer screening is now available from libraries across the county, city and Rutland.
