Young mums to graduate from the Family Nurse Partnership

A celebration event on 3rd December will recognise the achievements of 24 young mothers under 20 years of age, who will graduate from Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s Family Nurse Partnership (FNP). The first-time young mothers have received one to one support from specialist Family Nurses since pregnancy over the last two and a half years, making the transition to parenthood whilst continuing with their education or employment and adopting healthier lifestyles for themselves and their children.

National Allocate Software award for collaborative working around workforce planning

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust has won the 2014 Allocate Software collaborative working award for its work on a pilot project for children’s nasal vaccinations against flu. The award recognises the efforts of the Trust’s e-Rostering team working in collaboration with the county-wide immunisation team.

Leicester Recovery Partnership’s Jon Roberts has teamed up with independent documentary filmmaker Nick Hamer to capture Jon’s work as a Recovery Consultant and his past life as an alcoholic/drug addict. The Dear Albert film’s UK premiere will be at Phoenix Cinema in Leicester next month, following international showings in Canada, South Africa and America.

Better Care Fund social workers to provide vital link between hospital wards and home

Two social care workers have been recruited to help patients with mental health needs as they are discharged from hospital. The Leicester City Council posts are being supported by the Leicester City Better Care Fund (BCF), a pooled budget being used to integrate health and social care.

A Chartered Director, he has previously held senior finance posts in various sectors. Two Leicester health visitors awarded national fellowship for outstanding contribution

Two health visitors from LPT are amongst the first 35 health visitors in England to be awarded the prestigious title of ‘Fellow of the Institute of Health Visiting’ (FiHV). Nicole Turney - Senior Nurse Professional Lead for Health Visiting, and Asha Day - Health Visitor, have both been recognised for their outstanding contribution to the profession by the Institute of Health Visiting (iHV).

We have worked with the unions to minimise the impact of the planned action on Monday 13 October. We are not anticipating the need to cancel clinics or appointments, however should any localised disruption mean this becomes necessary we will endeavour to contact any affected patients directly.

My journey from psychosis to psychology

V Gupta experienced her first psychotic episode whilst travelling during her year out from university. She came back feeling paranoid and convinced that there were cameras in places she was staying and that people were trying to poison her. She thought her family were imposters and didn’t want to leave the house. Two years on, with help from Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s Psychosis Intervention and Early Recovery (PIER) team, she is on the road to recovery, has obtained a 2:1 BSc in Psychology and is studying to become a community mental health nurse.

LPT boosts gender identity support in Leicester

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) is helping to boost the support available to Leicester adults with gender dysphoria, also known as gender identity disorder (GID), LPT’s Open Mind service provides a psychological-based service via a dedicated clinic for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGB&T) people. It is one of the first talking therapy services approved by NHS England to make a direct referral to a specialist gender identity clinic for people who feel there is a mismatch between their biological sex and their gender “identity”.

LPT announces new mental health crisis house provider

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust has awarded the contract for provision of a mental health 'crisis house' service to support people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The new service, which is due to be launched in January 2015, will be provided by the Richmond Fellowship, a national, recovery-focused mental health charity

Needle free flu vaccine to be offered to local school children
