Due Regard

Acknowledging Difference

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) recognises that its staff and patients are all different. The Equality Act 2010 requires that we tailor our employment practices and services to meet the needs of everyone according to their protected characteristics.

Public sector organisations must demonstrate “Due Regard” to the Public Sector Equality Duty.

Having Due Regard to the Public Sector Equality Duty means ensuring that none of our functions, policies and processes have an adverse impact on people from the protected groups, whilst promoting the aims of the Public Sector Equality Duty:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act;
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people of the same group and people from different groups; and
  • Foster good relations between people of the same group and people from different groups.
