Introduction

Our staff are our greatest asset, displaying hard work, commitment and passion on a daily basis. We want to create a culture where there are lots of opportunities to say “thank you” and an organisation that our staff are proud to be a part of.

What is Valued Star?

This monthly award is about recognising members of staff who have gone the extra mile in the way they demonstrate any or all of our Trust’s values of integrity, trust, compassion and respect. These run throughout Our Pledge, which we have signed up as staff, managers and as an organisation.

June's Winner

June’s Valued Star is Michelle Churchard-Smith, head of nursing for adult mental health and learning disabilities services based at Bridge Park Plaza. This is what happened when she received her surprise award from director of nursing, AHPs and quality Anne-Maria Newham.

Michelle was nominated for going above and beyond in her role by working tirelessly to support her directorate and for driving improvements at the Bradgate Unit.

Presenting Michelle with her signed Valued Star certificate and badge, Anne-Maria said: “It is nice to be around you. Your nomination was unanimous and you are the Valued Star for June.”

Nominating Michelle, Anne Scott said: “Michelle has supported and driven her d

irectorate to deliver significant improvements in the quality of service provision and patient care.

“She has shown outstanding commitment, excellent clinical leadership and passion for delivering the best possible care to our patients and valuing our staff. Her endless positivity, values-based work ethic and her aspirational vision to lead her services to be the best is inspirational.

“Through her leadership her teams have been able to demonstrable improvements in care for patients while also increasing the effectiveness of the professionals within the team.

“She has developed the clinical teams value-based leadership in innovation in ways of working and a commitment to evaluation of their work and communication of positive results. She deserves to be recognised as a true Valued Star!”

How do the Valued Star Awards work?

One Valued Star is picked on a monthly basis from all those nominated during that month by our Executive Team. The winner is then announced the following month through a surprise presentation by Chief Executive Dr Peter Miller, who visits them in their place of work and presents a framed certificate.

The timeline for the awards and the dates for the monthly presentations is available.

It is important that if you are nominating someone for a Valued Star award, that you check they are available on the date of the scheduled presentation for that month.

Don't forget to let the person you're nominating know that you've nominated them - it is a great way to say thank you for all they do!

(Please copy and save the above text before you submit it as we are experiencing some technical problems with a number of the nomination submissions). Send a copy of the text by email to the person you are nominating, so that they know you are nominating them.

If you have any problems submitting your nomination, please complete a printable version of the form (see link above) and either scan and email to communications@leicspart.nhs.uk or send it in the internal post to the Communications team at Bridge Park Plaza,Thurmaston and they will add it manually.
