Valued Star Awards

Valued Star Awards Logo

Our staff are our greatest asset, displaying hard work, commitment and passion on a daily basis. We want to create a culture where there are lots of opportunities to say “thank you” and an organisation that our staff are proud to be a part of.

What is Valued Star?

This monthly award is about recognising members of staff who have gone the extra mile in the way they demonstrate any or all of our Trust’s values of integrity, trust, compassion and respect. These run throughout Our Pledge, which we have signed up as staff, managers and as an organisation.

December's Winner

December’s Valued Star is Johanne Robinson, staff nurse for the Grange Short Breaks. This is what happened when she received a surprise visit from chief executive Dr Peter Miller.

Johanne was nominated by a colleague in recognition of how she went above and beyond in ensuring the Trust values are embedded in the day to day running of the Grange Short Breaks unit with passion.

Presenting Johanne with her signed Valued Star certificate and badge, Pete said: “I am delighted to present you with this month's Valued Star award, thank you for everything you do.”

Nominating Johanne, Mandy Clarkson said: “I am nominating Johanne for the Valued Star award on behalf of the whole of the Grange 1 staff team.

“In the last few months, at one point there was only Johanne and another qualified member of staff working on the unit. Johanne constantly worked above her call of duty, putting in extra hours to cover staff shortages to ensure the patient’s had a safe and therapeutic stay.

“Johanne has also ensured that staff have felt supported during this difficult time via both formal and informal supervision – ensuring they are up to date with training.

“Johanne manages each staff member individually taking into account each staff member’s strengths and building on them, making a strong team who feel valued and well led.

“It can be hard for parents to ‘let go’ of their son or daughter but Johanne builds relationships with families to ensure they feel confident their son or daughter will be taken care of.

“Johanne has recently worked tirelessly in the past few weeks to ensure the Grange was ready both environmentally and clinically, and her staff felt confident to present high quality care patient’s receive during their stay to the CQC during their recent visit.

“As a team, we would like Johanne to receive the recognition for all the devotion and hard work she has put into the Grange.”

 Johanne said: “Thank you!”

How do the Valued Star Awards work?

One Valued Star is picked on a monthly basis from all those nominated during that month by our Executive Team. The winner is then announced the following month through a surprise presentation by Chief Executive Dr Peter Miller, who visits them in their place of work and presents a framed certificate.

It is important that if you are nominating someone for a Valued Star award, that you check they are available on the date of the scheduled presentation for that month.
