Occupational Therapy Adult Learning Disabilities Service
What Does Our Service Do?
We work with adults with a learning disability aged 18 and above. Occupational Therapists enable people to achieve health and wellbeing through participation in occupation. The primary goal is to enable people to participate in activities of everyday life. This is achieved by identifying the demands of the activity and the environment, in order to maintain or improve the person’s skills and enable access to activities within their home and inclusion within their community. We would address behavioural needs through the use of specialist approaches such as sensory integration. We support mainstream colleagues in the provision of services to the individual.
How Does Our Service Work?
All new referrals made to the Occupational Therapy (OT) service would receive an assessment from a qualified Occupational Therapist. We would then work with the client and their carers to implement a treatment programme to meet individual needs.
We provide a service to Leicester city, Leicestershire and Rutland. We currently have 14 therapists who cover the community and inpatient service.
Our service is delivered from:
- Peoples own homes
- Residential / nursing homes
- Supported living accommodation

- Day care venues within the community
- Respite
- Agnes unit – inpatient
