MSK Therapy:  Who we are
 

What does MSK mean?

MSK bones

MSK stands for 'musculoskeletal'.

This means we will help you with problems which affect your ability to move and function as usual.  These problems may have happened due to injury, operation or age. 

Where can I go for treatment?

The MSK therapy service is available in community hospitals and several GP practices across Leicestershire and Rutland.

You are able to receive your treatment at any one of the main sites shown irrespective of your home address or GP surgery. If you would prefer a location closer to your workplace, for example, please ask our booking clerks when we contact you to arrange your first appointment.

We do ask, however, that you remain at the same site throughout your course of treatment. You will not be able to change sites once your treatment has started.

Who will be treating me?

All our physiotherapists qualified and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

The Physiotherapy teams will help you reach your potential using advice, education about your problem, and an individual treatment plan.  Physiotherapists work both independently and with other health professionals to deliver the best care. 

In our physiotherapy teams we have qualified therapists, technical instructors and assistants to help you on your road to recovery.

Technical Instructors and Assistants

These are non-qualified staff who support the physiotherapy service.

Technical Instructors have completed specific training in order to treat patients with certain conditions and are able to see these patients throughout their treatment. They are supervised by a qualified physiotherapist.

All our Technical Instructors wear a dark blue tunic or polo shirt.

MSK TI Uniform

Our Assistant staff are non-qualified staff who assist the team by running exercise classes and treating patients on a one to one basis after they have been assessed by a qualified physiotherapist.

All our assistants wear a light or blue tunic or polo shirt. 

Qualified therapists

You can check the registration of your physiotherapist via the Health and Care Professions Council.

Qualified therapists have completed a 3 year degree course in physiotherapy.

MSK foot Ax 2

They are required to maintain their skills and knowledge and are registered under the Health and Care Professions council.

They are able to see any condition which is referred into our service.

Our qualified physiotherapy staff wear a white tunic or polo shirt with a blue trim for physiotherapists.
