Community Paediatric Audiology Service
This service offers diagnostic audiology assessments for children from 7 months to 16 years of age. For children attending special schools, diagnostic audiology assessments are offered from 7 months up to 19 years of age.
Referral criteria
Referrals to the Community Paediatric Audiology Service will be accepted from any health or education professional where a concern has been raised about a child’s hearing. Please ensure consent is gained from parent/guardian to make this referral.
To enable us to assess the child appropriately it is also important that you mention any special requirements, such as the need for an interpreter or disabled access and inform us of any developmental delays or communication needs.

Criteria exclusion
Please note: we are unable to accept referrals from parents/guardians directly.
How to access this service
When we’re able to offer an appointment, you’ll receive an appointment letter. The letter will ask you to ring our admin team to book your child’s appointment. If you do not ring to book your child’s appointment then they will be discharged from the service.
What conditions do you cover
This service offers paediatric diagnostic audiological assessment only. If treatment/intervention is recommended then a further referral is made to the appropriate service.
