Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Eating Disorders Team
Our CAMHS Eating Disorders Team offers specialist outpatient assessment and treatment to young people and their parents who are affected by eating disorders. Treatment usually lasts between 12 and 18 months, though early intervention is crucial to recovery.
A specialist outpatient team dedicated to the assessment and treatment of young patients with eating disorders (primarily anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa) up until the age of 18. The multi-disciplinary staff team are trained to offer evidence based interventions using a combination of medical and therapeutic skills to manage the psychological and physical aspects of eating disorders. Treatment is delivered primarily on an outpatient basis, although where inpatient care is indicated, staff will maintain a link to ensure a smooth transition between levels of service. There are also strong links with the Adult Eating Disorders Service to ensure good transition between services
if required. The ethos of the service is to offer intervention at the earliest opportunity for those patients presenting with eating disorders. We therefore welcome referrers to contact us to discuss cases and refer to our colour coded criteria for acceptance.
