Adult Liaison Psychiatry Service
Our Liaison Psychiatry Service provides assessment and treatment for people who experience mental health problems as a result of physical illness.
The team take referrals from the inpatient wards at UHL as well as referrals from GPs and secondary mental health care. Mental illness with a comorbidity of physical illness, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).
The service receives referrals via Fax: 0116 231 4833 or via letter.
Out of area referrers should contact the service directly for advice.
Referral criteria
Adults aged between 16 and 65 years who have:
– complex co-morbidities which cannot be managed in primary care with IAPT services
– co-morbidities that warrant specialist input that cannot be provided by community mental health teams
Criteria exclusion
None stated.

Access is by referral from health professionals, such as your GP.
What conditions do you cover
Cases of mental ill health related to physical illness which cannot be managed in primary care or by the community mental health team. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
