A message from Angela Hillery, chief executive, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust

Welcome to our third edition of LPT Together, our newsletter for senior stakeholders and partners.
We are pleased that we have retained our place in the second highest of five segments in the most recent NHS Oversight Framework league tables, placing us 21st out of 61 non-acute trusts in England. This has been achieved through hard work from our staff and close co-operation with partner organisations.
During recent months we have had a number of visits from our regulator, the Care Quality Commission. The first report arising from these inspections was published in January for our community mental health service for working age adults. Whilst the overall rating has remained at Requires Improvement, I am encouraged that our ongoing improvements have been recognised and our services have been rated as ‘good’ for safety, effectiveness and caring. You can read about how we are responding on our website.
We recently launched a new pilot frenotomy service, to support babies and families experiencing feeding difficulties due to tongue-tie – a condition affecting around one in 10 newborn children. It will involve LPT’s Healthy Together infant feeding team running weekly clinics for babies aged eight days to 18 weeks until March 2027. Read more about the pilot on our website.
As you read through this edition of LPT Together, you’ll see how partnership working and innovation remain at the heart of our THRIVE strategy as a Trust. The stories highlighted here reflect how we are making a difference together with our system partners to continually improve on outcomes for our local population.

LPT launches one-stop support page for families as part of Children’s Mental Health Week
As part of Children’s Mental Health Week 2026, our mental health support teams in schools and Healthy Together school nursing services have set up a new webpage to bring together local parenting support and advice for mums, dads and carers.
After listening to feedback from parents and carers, the teams worked together to set up the page and collate the free local support to help families navigate common challenge, from organisations and providers across LLR. The page includes tips to support children’s health and wellbeing, links to useful courses, websites and signposting, as well as where parents can go to for their own wellbeing.
The new resource makes it easier than ever for families to understand what help and advice is available at an early, preventive stage and how to access it and builds on our ongoing While You Wait work, to strengthen early help and self‑guided support.

You can also explore the full range of resources on our While You Wait webpages.
SEND Alliance work improving outcomes across LLR
The Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) and Inclusion Alliance was formed in August 2025 to sustain the positive and energetic change leadership work for the SEND population seen locally since 2023 as part of the Department for Education funded Change Programme Partnership.
The Alliance works to narrow and bridge gaps between partner organisations, as well as building on existing relationships with local education providers, parents, carers, young adults, young people and children to innovate and make a positive change together.
Its membership was formalised last year and includes all three local authorities, local area SEND partnerships, the Integrated Care Board, the three Parent Carer Forums, the Schools Development Support Agency and our Trust.
Priorities for the Alliance in year one include delivery of current workstreams which comprise developments in early language support for every child, The Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools and Mental Health Support; the roll out of its community inclusion programme, Shaping SEND Futures as well as leading on aligned commissioning opportunities.

Fearon Hall project gets £925,000
LPT will be managing a £925,000 project to improve mental health support at Loughborough’s Fearon Hall. This will include a 24/7 open door to anyone with mental health problems, removing the need to see a medical professional such as the GP or a neighbourhood mental health team, and the need to have an appointment which involves waiting.
This new model will radically change how people experiencing mental health challenges can access more help in their own neighbourhoods. We are proud to be only one of nine pilot areas selected across the country. Funding has been provided by Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ICB.

Eating disorders service goes partly digital
Our service for those with a severe eating disorder has expanded – and gone digital.
In addition to our intensive, seven-day-a-week inpatient unit, we now also have a version delivered by video conferencing, which patients can access in their own home, surrounded by family, pets and partners. This award-winning ‘Waterlily’ programme is bridging a gap for a cohort of patients who are at risk, by allowing them to be treated in the community rather than having lengthy inpatient admissions.
Both the inpatient and digital services are commissioned by the East Midlands Eating Disorder Provider Collaborative, which is hosted by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, and are available to patients from across the region.
Find out more about the service on our website.
