A spokesperson for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust said: “Sadly we can confirm that two patients who were being cared for by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and had tested positive for Covid-19, have died.

“Both patients were male and in their late eighties. One patient who had underlying health issues, died at St Luke’s Hospital in Market Harborough on Wednesday 20 May. The other patient, with no underlying health conditions died at Melton Mowbray Hospital on Thursday 21 May.

“The families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”
