On Monday 8 June, more than 130 partners from over 90 organisations and teams from across Leicester City came to the Leicester Working Together Networking Evening: Mental Health Special – an evening of information about mental health pathways, networking and food at the Y theatre.

This was the fourth evening that has been organised by Wesley Hall and LPT’s City Neighbourhood Leads: Rob Snow, Birju Vaja and Aisha Jagot.

Anita Rao, the founder of Leicester Working Together, said: “Leicester Working Together has hosted these evenings a number of times over the years with great success, and we wanted to mark this anniversary with a run through of all the different ways that partners can get support for their clients, service users and communities. It was excellent to hear from so many different parts of the NHS, the local council and the voluntary sector on all the services that they deliver.”

“I would like to thank everyone from Leicester working together and the presenters for giving up their time to make the event such a success, with particular thanks to Kevin Allen Khimani from VAL for asking all the questions on stage.”

Tanya Hibbert, LPT’s Executive Director for mental health said: “ This was my first Leicester Working Together event, and what an event to start with. I was hugely impressed with the number of partners in the network and how closely they all work together to provide a more seamless service for residents. It was great to see so many colleagues from across LPT there also, helping us to build links and listen to how we can work better with local partners to improve the mental health of our neighbourhoods and communities.

The event brought a focus on the mental health referrals pathways available to people; from primary to secondary care, how organisations are structured and the people within those organisations. Partners who took to the stage included Talking Therapies, LPT’s Neighbourhood Mental Health team, two local mental health café providers, the city council’s adult social care team,  and colleagues from a local GP practice.

To continue the connection amongst City colleagues we invite you to the Leicester Working Together Office Half-day at The Peepul Centre, Orchardson Avenue, Leicester LE4 6DP. The office half-day will allow you to continue your every-day work and a chance for you to link in with those around you working in mental health and wellbeing.
