Sadly we can confirm that a gentleman who was being cared for at The Evington Centre, on one of our dementia care wards within the Leicester General Hospital site, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died.
The patient, who died, was in his seventies and had underlying health conditions. His family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.
The patient died on March 28, however it was not confirmed that he was COVID -19 positive until his tests results had come through which was some days after his death, and the family were immediately contacted.
The Trust will not be giving out any further information on this patient.
