About this volunteering opportunity

This role supports patients and visitors arriving at Bradgate Mental Health Unit by providing a warm, calm and helpful meet‑and‑greet service at the main reception. Volunteers welcome visitors, signpost and, where needed, accompany them to wards, the Mental Health Urgent Care Hub, or Crisis Assessment rooms. The role also involves explaining visitor procedures (including property and sign‑in requirements) to help maintain safety and minimise distress during busy periods.

Based at the main reception the role runs daily between 9am and 8.30pm, with flexibility for 3‑hour sessions and opportunities to volunteer at weekends. Volunteers help improve the overall patient and visitor experience while developing customer service and communication skills in a busy, supported environment. Full training, ongoing support, and a free Enhanced DBS check are provided.
