A registered mental health nurse working for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) in Coalville has received the international DAISY Award for the “exceptional compassion and kindness” she provides to her patients.
The DAISY Awards are an international recognition programme that honours and celebrates the exceptional care that many nurses and midwives provide every day.
Lindsay Greaves, clinical team lead, was nominated for the prestigious award for “her ability to combine clinical expertise with humanity” and supporting her patient through a challenging period.
Lindsay’s nomination from her patient reads:
“Lindsay has always shown exceptional compassion and kindness, making a profound difference in my life. During times when I felt the world was against me, she helped me feel human again, listened without judgment, offered reassurance, and reminded me that I was never alone.
“She supported me through some of my darkest days, providing not only professional care but also genuine empathy. Her advice has always been thoughtful and reassuring, giving me strength and hope when I needed it most.
“What makes Lindsay so special is her ability to combine clinical expertise with humanity. She doesn’t just treat a condition; she cares for the whole person. Thanks to her unwavering support, I have felt valued, respected, and empowered to keep going.
“Lindsay truly embodies the values of nursing, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of recognition.”
Lindsay received her award from Jane Martin, assistant director for nursing and quality at LPT, accompanied by her colleagues.
Lindsay shared: “I feel so humbled and grateful to have received a DAISY award. Knowing that the care I provided made a difference in someone’s life – especially during such a difficult time – is the most meaningful recognition I could ever receive.
“Nursing, to me, has always been about compassion and connection. It’s about seeing the person beyond the condition, listening without judgment, and helping people feel human again. That’s why this award means so much – it celebrates the heart of what we do every day.”
