A team of enthusiastic volunteers from British retailer Selfridges rolled up their sleeves at Coalville Community Hospital, giving their time and energy to refresh outdoor furniture in the hospital’s courtyard.

Organised by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s (LPT) voluntary services team in partnership with the Trust’s registered charity Raising Health, the volunteering day saw Selfridges’ staff sanding, staining, and revitalising several outdoor wooden benches used by patients and NHS staff.

The Selfridges team not only gave their time, but also generously funded all the materials needed, from wood sanders and brushes to protective stain and finishing supplies. Their contribution has helped to transform the courtyard into a more welcoming space for rest and wellbeing.

Coalville Community Hospital has three adult inpatient wards offering specialist stroke rehabilitation, sub-acute care, complex rehabilitation and end of life care, the courtyard is used by patients and their families, as well as staff.

Minaxi Patel, voluntary services manager for LPT, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Selfridges team for choosing to spend their corporate volunteering day with us.

“Their kindness and initiative show how businesses can make a meaningful difference in NHS spaces, enhancing the experience of patients and staff beyond what core funding can provide.”

Magdalena Korytkowska, fundraising manager for Raising Health said: “The volunteers from Selfridges have made a huge difference – thank you.

“We warmly invite other companies to consider spending their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) days with us. Whether it’s transforming outdoor spaces, supporting wellbeing projects, or helping us deliver special events, your team can help create a positive and lasting impact within our local NHS.”

Raising Health helps fund projects, equipment, and innovations that go above and beyond standard NHS provision to enhance the experience of patients, service users and staff. Corporate volunteering plays an increasingly important role in that mission.

Supporting the work of the NHS, Raising Health is proud to offer meaningful volunteering opportunities for businesses to give back through their CSR programmes.
