Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust is putting on two specialist vaccination clinics in Coalville and Loughborough on Monday 16 June at the start of next week’s Learning Disabilities Week (16-22 June).
The clinics are open to all people with a learning disability and their close family, carers and friends. The MMR (measles, mumps and rubella), Pertussis (whooping cough) and RSV vaccinations will be available. The clinics will be running at the following venues:
- Choices4life, Unit 2 Phoenix Park, Telford Way, Coalville LE67 3HB from 10am-12:30pm
- WHM Work Connections, Green Fields Skills Centre, 60 Green Lane, Seagrave, Loughborough LE12 7LU from 1:30pm-4pm.
The clinics provide a friendly and calm atmosphere, longer appointment times (if needed), and vaccinators specialising in learning disability support and care – to help to provide the best environment to enable people to have the vaccine. Each appointment can also be tailored to suit the individual’s needs.
Learning disability nurses will also be delivering arts and crafts sessions as part of a celebration of Learning Disabilities Week, which this year focuses on ‘Do you see me?’ an opportunity for all people with a learning disability to be seen, heard and valued.
Representatives from the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board will also be highlighting the importance of cancer screening, what happens at a screening appointment and what adjustments are available.
