Criminal Justice and Liaison Diversion
The service assesses peoples mental health needs who have had any contact with the police or are involved in the criminal justice system whether they are a suspect or a witness.
People are referred to the service who are on the criminal justice pathway or have had contact with the police for any reason, victim, suspect, defendant, witness or bystander, who it is felt would benefit from mental health intervention. The team will assess and place on an appropriate care pathway. Staff are on site at the police station and at court to receive referrals. The service operates 7 days a week 8am – 10pm in the police station, 10am – 2am in the triage car (which attends incidents with police) and 5 days a week (excluding bank holidays) Monday to Friday in the courts.
Referral criteria
