Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) Community Mental Health Teams
Our MHSOP Community Mental Health Teams provide more routine (non-urgent/non intensive) multi-disciplinary assessment and intervention for patients of any age with a complex presentation of dementia or those over 65 with a complex functional illness. This intervention takes place in a community setting, for example, patient’s own home. The team comprises of Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Health Care Support Workers.

Referral criteria
People of all ages with probable dementia
Adults over the age of 65 with depression, anxiety or psychotic illnesses

Criteria exclusion
Patients under 65 who do not have probable dementia.

Access is by referral from a healthcare professional.
What conditions do you cover
Dementia, Alzheimer’s, vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies, young on-set dementia; older people’s mental health: depression, anxiety, psychosis.
