Service description

This service offers diagnostic audiology assessments for children from 7 months to 16 years of age and for children attending special schools up to 19 years of age.

Please note, we no longer offer school hearing assessments. Please see our ‘Frequently Asked Questions‘ for further information.

Meet the Audiology Team

LM Audiologist

 

 Lauren Mumford

Role: Clinical Team Lead

Responsibilities : To co-ordinate the delivery of screening and diagnostic community paediatric audiology services within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, whilst also working clinically as a paediatric audiologist. I am trained in Level 1 British Sign Language.

Fun Fact: I have been Chair of the Paediatric Audiology Interest Group for the British Society of Audiology.

 

MM audiologist

 Michelle Morina

Role: Community Paediatric Audiologist

Responsibilities: Audiological testing of children aged 8 months to 16 years

Fun Fact: Once climbed Snowdonia (never again)!

 

 

Leena Sharma

Role: Community Paediatric Audiologist

Responsibilities: Conducting hearing tests for children aged between 8 months to 18 years.

I also work to improve our service for complex patients and am involved with calibrating the equipment.

Fun Fact: 2nd Dan in Taekwondo

Responsibilities: Audiological testing of children aged 8 months to 19 years.

Tammy Burzio

Role: Hearing Screener.

Responsibilities :  I also assist the Audiologists in clinics conditioning for VRA and performance tests. I am also the Health and Safety lead along with one of the Audiologists.

 Stephanie Alderson

Role: Hearing Screener

Responsibilities : . I assist Audiologists in venues across Leicestershire in Audiology clinics for children from 8 months to 3 years. To work together as a team to get reliable hearing test results, using different techniques such as VRA and Performance testing.

Fun Fact: I work on the bank for LPT as a HCA

 

Referral criteria

Referrals for diagnostic service will be accepted from any Health or Education professional, where there is concern about hearing, speech or communication.

Please note: we are unable to accept referrals from parents/guardians directly.

A Partial Booking letter will be sent out to you as soon as we receive your referral. This letter will ask you to ring book your appointment as soon as possible.

Please note: if you do not ring in to book within the period specified on the partial booking letter we will be unable to process the referral and you will unfortunately need to obtain a new referral.

Referrals can be received from

- General Practitioners (GP) - The Health Visiting Service - School Nurse - Speech and Language Therapy - Community Paediatricians - Educational Services

Who to contact if you need an interpreter or information about disabled access

If you have any specific access requirements, such as needing an interpreter or accessibility to the site, please ask your referrer to include this information in the referral or mention this when you ring in to book.
