Service description

We provide inpatient care and support for adults with learning disabilities with mental health problems including challenging behaviours. We provide care personalised and focused on the needs of the individual with aim of enabling recovery and social inclusion. Our approach is underpinned by Positive Behavioural Support Model. Patients may be admitted informally or using the framework of Mental Health Act. For patients staying informally a deprivation of liberty assessment will be carried out to make sure that we provide care within the right legal framework.

We are a multi-disciplinary team passionate about improving the wellbeing of people in our care. Our team include nurses, healthcare support workers, doctors, psychologist, speech and language therapist, Occupational therapist, therapy support staff and administrative support staff. We always welcome patients on the day of admission to the Agnes unit and introduce them to the key people providing their care and make them familiar with the unit and their surroundings. Each patient will have a named nurse who works with the individual to complete a full assessment of their needs and develop care plans to support these. The care and support they receive will be regularly reviewed and evaluated by our multidisciplinary team.
