Our aim in R&D

As a Research Active Trust, we want to promote and support high quality research and attract staff that share our passion. We see it as an essential part of our drive to provide the best quality of care, to be at the leading edge of innovation, and to ensure our services are both cost-effective, safe and of the highest quality.

LPT Research and Development Team

Meet our Research and Development Team:

Why we do research

  •   To develop new treatments and medicine
  •   To prevent illnesses
  •   To improve quality of life
  •   To improve our understanding of the causes of medical and psychological conditions and how they develop
  •   To understand the emotional and physical support needed by people living with a condition.
  •   To improve the way that services are delivered to deliver better outcomes

Taking part in research

Patients, Service Users and Members of the Public

  • There is a wide variety of research which we support across the Trust
  • We can't do research without the support of our patients, service users, carers and the wider public
  • If you are treated in, or in contact with any one of our services, you may be invited to take part in clinical research. It is entirely up to you whether or not you wish to be involved
  • Healthy Volunteers can also take part in research
  • You can support research by taking part in Patient and Public Involvement - this ensures that the research we are doing in LPT reflects the needs of people with lived experience
  • Please email lpt.research@nhs.net to find out about research we are currently supporting and opportunities for you to get involved

LPT staff

  • Staff from all disciplines are already active in research, across all our services and making a real difference every day
  • We actively encourage our staff to participate by supporting research or to develop their own ideas in alliance with the patients and the public
  • The R&D team can work with you to develop your research ideas
  • You can work with the R&D team to support research we are hosting
  • Email us on lpt.research@nhs.net to find out how you can be involved
