Central Access Point (CAP) on 0808 800 3302:
Families can call the Central Access Point (CAP) on 0808 800 3302, 24 hours a day, seven days a week and speak to a qualified call-handler if they require advice around urgent mental health concerns for children and young people. Please note however that the CAP line is not an emergency service. Where there is an immediate, serious and life-threatening emergency, call 999 or attend A and E.
Advice for professionals regarding how to refer into CAMHS can be found on this page. Professionals who have significant concerns for a child or young person’s mental health should call the person’s general practitioner (GP).
Please be aware that our Professionals’ Advice Service (PAS) line for advice and information on referrals into our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) has closed.

Mental Health Support Teams in Schools:
Those who go to a school participating in our Mental Health Support Teams in Schools programme may also be able to get help from their school’s practitioner.
Your public health (school) nurse is also a great starting point if you you are worried about yourself or a friend.
